What is SyndicatedLearning.org?
The purpose of SyndicatedLearning.org (SL.org) is to provide a centralized catalog of quality education and training rss (real simple syndication)
feeds on the web that do not have a institutional (e.g. universities and businesses) affiliation.
Why you ask? Well there are a large number of quality educational podcasts scattered across the web and there is no centralized location, short of
iTunes, where they can be found. If you are an iTunes user you have probably noticed that if a podcast is not featured, it is very difficult to find.
Additionally some educational organizations have adopted the gorilla approach to podcasting. In other words if someone farts on campus, it
becomes another educational podcast on iTunes, further adding to the clutter.
What SyndicatedLearning.org isn’t.
The SL.org is not an aggregator. SL.org simply provides a catalog with links to the podcast home site or aggregator feeds that the podcast owner
has already set up. SL.org is also not a hosting service. SL.org does however, have a lot of available bandwidth and server space so podcasts who
are temporarily homeless can be cared for.
What are the ground rules?
It is not the goal of SL.org to censor, but a few ground rules are necessary:
- Listed podcasts cannot have any organizational affiliation (e.g. educational institution, business, political entity, etc.)
- Listed podcasts must be appropriate for all audiences. SL.org understands that some educational topics can be controversial, and some are
not necessarily what you would want your children listening to, but we can at least keep the F bombs out of it.
- Listed podcasts must be active (e.g. new episodes posted on a regular basis). Pod-fade is another element of the clutter SL.org wishes to
overcome.
- Any podcast found to be in violation of copyright laws, or found to be plagiarizing will be removed.
How do I get listed?
If you are non affiliated podcaster with an educational or training feed, and would like to have your feed listed on the Syndicated Learning, please
email: admin@syndicatedlearning.org. In your email provide the following:
- The title of the podcast as you would like it to appear (required)
- A link to the site your podcast is hosted on and/or links to aggregators (such as iTunes) on which it is already listed (required – duh)
- A brief synopsis of the podcast (optional)
- If you want your name to appear in the listing please indicate how you wish it to appear (optional)
- Your podcast graphic (optional)
As this site grows, the manner in which podcast are categorized and listed will change. For now the list is short, so let’s keep it simple – scroll and lean my
friends.
